I know, this sort of thing doesn't happen only with Evangelion, but it's clearly one of the most frequent cases. Still, I believe my point remains valid.
THEY'RE FOURTEEN, GODDAMMIT!
I can't stop but asking myself what's wrong with those fanbases! But honestly, I think Gainax is to blame, on this one, specially on the most recent OVAs. On the secont OVA, right after the credits, the explicitly say that the next one will have, and I'm quoting, "even more fanservice!"
... And that's where my interest on these new OVAs has simply disapeared. I was never much of a fan of Evangelion, but I think they were doing something interesting with these. The story makes a bit more sense, and all that.
But of course, they had to ruin it with the GODDAMN fanservice. Hell, that's the sole reason why they've put that new kid. Because they couldn't leave those who get it off by nerdy-looking chicks, could they?
Now, I know what some of you must be wondering, and in fact, they ARE legal in some countries. Hell, in some countries the age of consent is even BELOW 14 (it's 13, in Spain, for example)! And in a way, 14 is also legal here in Portugal. However, 14 and 15 is kind of a gray zone, where things get analized on a case-by-case basis.
Anyway, to me, the age of consent should be an international law. Something that the United Nations should impose on all countries. As for the age itself? Something like 17, or 18.
And no, I'm not judging this from a moral standpoint, but from a biological one. When you're a teenager, your body is still going through changes, and while the reproductive organs may already be functional, that doesn't mean things will work properly.
And let's get one thing straight: You think a 14-year-old kid will give two shits about teen pregnancy and STDs? Of course not! They just wanna stick it in and have fun!
Well, this is something that we could be discussing for weeks, so it's best to put a stop here. But I won't be leaving before letting you know of an interesting fact:
Age of consent on North Korea: 17
... Kinda makes you think, huh? XD
